Lamb’s Another Language (Review)

“Where are the words to speak this thing in me/ to tell the ones who wanna hear?” complains Lou Rhodes in 5‘s perfect opener “Another Language.” The track features Rhodes in a touching, poignant quest to find the perfect “language” which she expects to answer what is troubling her and shifting off the balance within herself and the world. The pulsing, consistent synthesized beats provided by the other half of Lamb (Andy Barlow) enliven the number as if the heroine moves swiftly to the future to search for this lost mother tongue as she threatens “I’m gonna find a way to say it.

Almost eight years after their last formal record, 5 promises big with this track. Back in the 90’s Lamb made itself known by its gentle, almost romantic electronic numbers. What can be more exciting than finding a truly underrated band back to its feet and up for a match again. Listen here:
